We can stop this. Next year, the FIS will change giant slalom race skis to a 40 meter turn radius (straight skis) or (going back to the 80's). At various FIS press conferences, Ted Ligety has stepped up to the plate and is currently fighting the FIS on this matter. I plan to step up to that same plate. As an avid junior racer I should have a say on this subject. Most people think that this change won't affect junior racers ,but it will. All junior racers of this era have usually learned how to ski on (shaped skis). So why should the FIS take that away from us. Also, world cup skiers can't ski on these new skis. For example, an experiment was performed on Ted Ligety and Bode Miller. They put these new skis on and tried to ski an average giant slalom course, with Ted being the best GS skier in the world (proven) nobody finished no matter how hard they tried.
